GREECE & TURKEY (COMBINED CRUISE TOURS)


Option 1 Athens - Corinth & Three Day Cruise to the Greek Islands and Turkey 

Day 1 / THURSDAY, ARRIVE IN ATHENS - TOUR TO CORINTH & ATHENS:

At 9AMarrive at Athens International Airport. Upon arrival start the day tour to Ancient Corinth. Our bus will take you out of Athens by the Saronic Gulf, where in 480 BC history's root was changed! The small Grecian fleet managed to defeat the enormously powerful armada of the Persians. From here, via the historic Corinthian Canal, (quick stop for photos) you will arrive at Ancient Corinth (Acts 18:1-18). It was to this megalopolis where the apostle Paul came and worked, established a thriving church, subsequently sending two of his epistles now part of the 
New Testament. Here, you see all of the sites associated with his ministry: the Agora, the Temple of Apollo, the Roman Odeon, the Bema and Gallio's Seat. The small archaeological museum here is an absolute must! You will also see the ruins of early Christian 5th century basilica at the Ancient Port of Cenchreae before returning to Athens.

In the afternoon start the sightseeing tour of Athens (Acts 17:15). Climb up to the marble-capped Acropolis and visit the famous Parthenon and the Erechteum. Then, you will go to nearby Mars' Hill (or Areopagus) (Acts 17:22) where the Apostle Paul delivered his well-known 
sermon. Your tour will continue with a panoramic drive to see the highlights of modern Athens: pass by the tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Parliament House, Presidential Palace, Panathenian Stadium, Temple of Olympian Zeus, the Academy, the University and the National Library. After the tours, check-in at the hotel followed by dinner and overnight.

Day 2 / FRIDAY, PIRAEUS - MYKONOS, GREECE :

At 8:30AM, transfer to the port of Piraeus for embarkation on the ship for 3-Day Cruise to the Greek islands and Turkey. At 11:00AM, sail for Mykonos. In the afternoon (6:00 PM) arrive in Mykonos. The island combines international jet-set atmosphere and a very active nightlife. Stroll at leisure through the whitewashed, flower-decked alleyways, climbing to the sculpture church of Paraportiani or along the waterfront of “Little Venice” to the well-known windmills; sail for Rhodes at 10:00PM.

Day 3 / SATURDAY, RHODES, GREECE:

At 9:30AM arrive at Rhodes. In ancient times, the Colossus of Rhodes was one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. This stronghold was built by a Crusading Order, which originated from Palestine. The optional half-day excursion takes you to visit the Temple of Athena on the majestic rocky Acropolis of Lindos, with the blue Aegean Sea beneath it and the sophisticated whitewashed artists' colony at its foot. Local tradition has it, that Paul's ship on its way to Rome spent some time in the small harbor. Afternoon is free in Rhodes. Stroll around the medieval walled city; enjoy the cosmopolitan atmosphere from one of the elegant cafes in the marina. Sail for Patmos at 7:30PM

Day 4 / SUNDAY - PATMOS, GREECE - KUSADASI (EPHESUS), TURKEY:

At 6:30AM arrive at Patmos, this beautiful and almost mysterious rocky island where the apostle John was exiled and wrote the Book of Revelation. Drive up to the Monastery of St. John the Evangelist where we have a wonderful view of the island. We also visit the Grotto of the Revelation. After some free time for shop-browsing, return to the ship and sail for Kusadasi at 10:00AM. Lunch is aboard the ship. At 2:00PM, disembarkation in Kusadasi, Turkey, where you start the tour to the ancient city of Ephesus. The Apostle Paul preached to the Ephesians and lived here for three years. This church also received an epistle from him. You will visit the spectacular ruins where excavations still continue in this once great and important city, which was founded in the 10th century BC. Walk through history along marble streets lined with wonderful public buildings, among them the Baths of Scholastica, the Library of Celsus, the Temple of Hadrian and the Theater. The Temple of Diana of the Ephesians, another of the seven wonders of the ancient world, was built in this city. Check-in at hotel in Kusadasi. 

The above tour is feasible on the following dates: (Based on the cruise ship sailing dates): SEPTEMBER 6, 13, 20, and 27. 

These cruises sail every Friday from Athens from March 9 till November 9.

Important note: To be able to organize the Athens and Corinth tours on arrival day the group's flight has to arrive latest at 9a.m. at Athens International Airport.

Day 6 / FRIDAY, END TURKISH TOUR PORTION IN KUSADASI

Day 7 / SATURDAY, KUSADASI EMBARKATION FOR 3-DAY CRUISE TO GREEK ISLANDS - PATMOS

At 9:00AM, transfer to Kusadasi port for embarkation on the ship at 10:00AM. The ship sets sail for at 12 noon for Patmos. At 4:00PM, arrive at this beautiful mysterious rocky island where the exiled Apostle John wrote the Book of Revelation. We have an optional tour: we drive up to the Monastery of St. John the Evangelist, where we have a wonderful view of the island. We also visit the Grotto of the Revelation where the heavenly voice of God revealed to St. John the future of humanity (Rev. 1:12-21). After some free time for browsing, return to the ship for an evening sailing to Heraklion at 9:00PM.

Day 8 / SUNDAY: HERAKLION, CRETE - SANTORINI, GREECE

At 7:00AM we call at Heraklion Crete, (Acts 27:7-13) where our optional excursion takes us from the lively bustling city to visit the Minoan Palace of Knossos, legendary home of the Minotaur (half bull and half man). Sail for Santorini at 11:30AM, where we arrive at 4:30PM.
Disembarkation by tender-boats, weather permitting. Take a mule or the cable car up to the white-washed town of Thera; perched high on the rim of the ancient volcano, the eruption of which (1,600 BC) literally buried a flourishing Bronze Age town which has now been excavated at Akrotiri. Sail for Piraeus at 9:00PM

Day 9 / MONDAY: PIRAEUS, GREECE - ATHENS & CORINTH TOURS

At 7:00AM, arrive at Piraeus. Disembark at 7:30AM. After breakfast and meet the local guide to start the tours to Athens and Corinth. First, drive to Corinth passing by the historic Corinthian Canal and continue to Ancient Corinth (Acts 18:1-18) to visit the site where the apostle Paul

After breakfast transfer to Athens International Airport for return flight.
